How Do I Setup Quickbooks Estimates And Invoices To Charge Sales Tax On Line Items?

I need to know how to setup Quickbooks Pro 2007 to choose between a taxable line item and a non-taxable line item. I have setup some (it seems) unsuccessfully. Help is appreciated and I am available via email!! Thanks!

    Maybe I can help…
On your menu bar at the top of the screen click on ‘Lists’. From the dropdown menu select ‘Sales Tax Code List’.
This is where you should have set up your items that are taxable or non-taxable. (i.e. Taxable sales, Non-taxable sales, Non-taxable labor, etc.)
You can add to this list by clicking on the ‘Sales Tax Code’ button and selecting ‘New’ from the dropdown menu.
I am assuming that you have already entered your sales tax rate. If not you need to do so by selecting ‘Edit’ from the menu bar, then ‘Preferences’ from the dropdown menu, then ‘Sales Tax’. Select the ‘Company Preferences’ tab. Click the ‘Add Sales Tax Item’ button.
Now, from your invoice – enter the information and in the very last columb click under ‘Tax’. A dropdown menu will appear and you can select the item you set up earlier. (What you set up in the sales tax code list).
    Hope this helps!

There is a part called turtorals in the quickbooks, easy to walk thru, also a help pulldown. Are you in Mac or Vista? I was just talking to the salesman today, I have the old quickbooks pro. and am looking to set up a set of books on the thing.
